Ironically, I had been participating in the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure for for 5 years before being diagnosed with  Stage II Breast Cancer.  Due to a breast  cancer scare of a family member, my family had decided we would participate annually in the Race of the Cure .  Little did I know,  2 out of the 5 years in which we participated,  I was walking with Breast Cancer myself.  Following my diagnosis in April of 2012 and later Double Mastectomy in June of 2012, I knew participating in our family’s annual tradition would continue aiding me in my fight for living cancer free.  I gained a new focus for completing each step, I would be walking for myself, wearing Pink.  October 2012 was a glorious occasion, with my two best gals Trish and Cynthia, and my two loves, dos Miguels I found my inspiration for striving to complete the race with hope behind each step. Finishing the race in stride was significant, as I had just completed my 5th round of chemo the week before. https://www.warrior-elements.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/428234200.mp4 As October came to a close, so did another chapter in my life, my mother decided she could better serve me as an angel, watching out from above.  I was her caregiver for 13 years; she will be mine for eternity.  With 6 rounds of chemo, and several rounds of radiation completed, I decided I need even more change in my life.  I wanted to serve in a greater capacity as an educator. I then interviewed and accepted a position as an Assistant Principal at Dan D. Rogers Elementary, joining the Hillcrest Feeder Pattern in DISD, where I am currently serving today. ...
